Le Trou de la Mouche- Featured Hike

+1055 meters

Directions from Annecy

Drive in the direction of Thônes. Stop at Le Fournil de mon Père just after the round-a-bout in Annecy-le-Vieux before la Route de Thônes/D16 and pick up one the "best sandwiches" in France. Next door, at La Laiterie d'Annecy-le-Vieux, you'll also find the most delicious yogurts and cheeses. Continue through Thônes, where you'll then follow the signs to La Clusaz.

Once in La Clusaz, drive through the village onto Route des Confins. Follow this road up past Lac des Confins until the parking lot next to La Chevrie des Confins. This is the starting point of lots of great hikes. And there's a lovely bar/restaurant above Lac des Confins that makes a perfect spot to relax with a beer or a chocolat chaud in the winter!

After parking, continue up the road by foot a few hundred meters until you see the sign marked "Trou de la Mouche." The trail is fairly easy to follow. It starts out a bit steep and levels out as you go on. To the left, you'll eventually spot "Le Trou de la Mouche," or the "Fly Hole." Through le trou, on a good day, you'll be treated to a stunning view of Le Mont Blanc and la Chaine des Aravis. Ascent takes around 1.45-2.5 hours. You can descend the same way, or complete the loop through le trou. Level of difficulty is considered medium.
